The one girl above obviously has no idea how to bring a group to a bar. One: Have all your IDs ready to go. Two: Be really nice, you've got a lot of people with you and that means there is a huge potential for someone to act like a moron. Three: Understand the laws of where you are going. In Tempe (I think Phoenix is the same) you must all have the correct ID and it will be checked, you will be grilled.
Other than St. Patty's Day Casey's never has 'hired help' security guards. All of their guards are hard workers doing a difficult job. I for one am really glad that her group was denied entrance because I was probably there, and (from her review) they sounded annoying. The bouncers at Casey's are awesome at keeping the annoying people out.
I love this bar! You will also!

A group of my close friends all ventured out of downtown Phoenix to go to Casey Moore's for a going away party. We were a group of 8 and we all drove together in a gigantic car. We are all over the age of 25. When we got there the hired help security guard almost didn't let my boyfriend in because he doesn't look 30, but he is. Then another one of our friends who is 25 and a big guy, he doesn't look underage by any means, gets denied access because they think his ID is fake. So, here we all are together for a friends going away party and one of us can't get in. We can't leave because there are more people meeting us.
Well, we don't get treated this way in downtown Phoenix and while the service may not be as good at least we are not harassed and split up by some hired help wiener of a security guard.
The patio doesn't have any misters, I was ill the next day from dehydration. It's not a place for the summer. If you are out on the back patio the women's restroom is a long trek through the entire establishment.
The service ONCE INSIDE! was good.
We regret our decision to have the going away party there and we will not be returning. You need to treat your customers nicely, it would be obvious to anyone that we were not underage patrons trying to illegally get someone in. It's typical Tempe.

Great location and building - an old house really in the middle of a neighborhood. Nice diversion from Mill Ave and other ASU hangouts. Great relaxed atmosphere. Type of unique place you will tell others about. On one visit there was some incident and all of our group was kicked out except me (only one of us should have been booted, but they 86'd the lot). I chose to stay and enjoy my Sierra Nevada rather than catch up with the ejected.

My cousin, a student at ASU, took me out to this bar over the summer. It was pretty damn sweet. I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of the Tempe bar scene (too much make-up and silicon for my tastes) but this place had a nice, laid-back atmosphere and plenty of great Irish beers, a fine scotch selection and very competent bar staff. Check it out next time you're in Tempe if you get tired of looking at Barbie Dolls.
